****PRESS QUOTES****
"...Kira Seamon transforms scenes of New
England foliage into brilliant images of
dazzling beauty...her 40 photos are like
Rorschach ink blots that inflame viewers'
imaginations...a winterberry bush seems
ablaze with patterns of incandescent
colors suggestive of Impressionist
landscapes...as photographed by Seamon,
the buds and blades of a bearded iris
are reflected in a symmetrical mosaic of
delicate botanical anatomy.
Visitor comments in a guest book at a
recent exhibit compare Seamon's
24 -by- 36-inch untitled photos to
Georgia O'Keeffe's luminous abstract
images. Sharon Library Director Lee-Ann
Amend said Seamon's exhibit in the
community room had been
enthusiastically received by visitors,
including one woman who emailed her to
ask how the images were made. She
described the show as
"completely different photos of nature at
its best" and said she liked them so much
she was using one of the images for the
screen saver on her computer.
"I love Kira's photos, their textures and
colors," said Amend. "Her work is great."
...Drawn to her work, passer by Robert
Hoffman described Seamon's photos as
"exemplary" for their striking contrasts
and what appeared to be subliminal
imagery. The Sharon business owner was
especially impressed by several of
Seamon's round photos with images that
evoked popular songs like the Beatles'
"Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds" and
covers of Kiss albums...
When Scottish scientist Dave Brewster
invented the modern kaleidoscope in
1817, he coined its name from three Greek
words that roughly mean "to observe
beautiful forms." With her striking photos,
Seamon has brought that invention alive in
new ways."

"As Natick's inaugural artist-in-residence,
Kira Seamon has so far been the epitome
of a good neighbor...Seamon also displayed
her "Stained Glass Sky" kaleidoscopic
photography last year at the Morse
Institute Library...the result is a striking
kaleidoscopic effect that challenges the
viewer to decipher the subject matter's
origins...After the recent fire in downtown
Natick, Seamon organized and produced
an artistic show of gratitude for
emergency crews that responded to the
crisis...
Art in Bloom is a celebration of existing
works of art, rendered in themed, floral
arrangements. Seamon has extensive
experience with these horticultural
homages, having hosted and assembled
many iterations of the exhibit over the
years. Prior exhibitions of Art in Bloom
have included tabletop displays of flowers,
each an interpretation of a well-known
and beloved book...It's quite literally
(literary) art imitating art...the floral
arrangements will represent Seamon's
own photography as centerpieces and
inspiration, including some recent images
favored mediums will culminate in this
month's Art in Bloom event, featuring
floral arrangements as odes to her
photography..."It's truly beyond a dream
come true," said Seamon. "And I hope to
give my all to the Natick community."

KALEIDOSCOPIC FOLIAGE
"LEAVES"
LIBRARY PATRONS SMILING
"In the lobby of the Wellesley Free Library,
artist Kira Seamon studied her work at a
distance, clothed in nature as if she were
emerging from the Garden of Eden.
Flowers adorned her white-blonde curls
and her breezy shawl floated behind her
with soft hues of brown, green and
yellow. She topped off her eccentric style
with an ornate and sparkling silver
necklace. Seamon was a walking reflection
of her art; colorful and bold, yet natural
and open. She fluttered around from frame
to frame, delightfully eager to explain her
work, titled "Stained Glass Sky", to curious
library patrons...the photographs burst
with life, color and shapes...
Seamon's career is about as dynamic as her
art, and includes dance performance,
dance instruction and a clothing line
modeled after her art. She brings the
energy and creativity from each of these
areas into her photography, which jumps
off the walls as if it resents the ordinary
black frames that contain it.
If you can't wait for autumn to see some
breathtaking New England foliage, take a
trip over to the Wellesley Free Library.
You are in for a real tree-t."

"...Kira's art is simply and utterly unique.
The bright and colorful geometric designs
are impossible to miss..."
MEDFIELD HOMETOWN WEEKLY
February 2018
"Although the several nor'easters ensured
that it still looked like winter outdoors,
Kira Seamon's bright and colorful
photography welcomed the new season
inside...Kira creates unique prints filled
with geometric designs and eye-catching
colors. She was inspired both by Matisse
and the beautiful colors one can see in a
kaleidoscope to begin this
unparalleled form of photography...Each of
Kira's prints are undoubtedly stunning, but
viewing the gallery from afar allows one to
see just how brilliantly colored each photo
is...Programming librarian Gay Ellen
Dennett tackled the task (of arranging the
pieces in the exhibit)...she perfectly
arranged the prints by color and
size...viewer's can identify the flowers
clearly in Kira's egg prints, which helped
library patrons get excited for springtime
and for Easter...For those who missed her
amazing display, Kira's work will be on
display at the Weston Public Library..."
NEEDHAM HOMETOWN WEEKLY
April 2018
"...Matisse was originally a painter, and
when he grew old, he no longer had the
strength to paint. Instead he turned to
colorful paper cutouts, with which he
would create beautiful arrangements.
'I wanted to do that', Seamon said.
Now, years later, she has come
close...Seamon tried fall foliage, creating
images eerily similar to some of Matisse's
own work."

SWELLESLEY REPORT JULY 2017
"It was a quiet afternoon in the Dover
Town Library. Upstairs, only hushed
chatter and the sound of pages turning
broke the silence.
Hanging on the walls,
however, were riots of color.
Library patrons admired the
work...enjoying the pops of color splashed
onto the otherwise dull walls...The viewers
wondered just how such a magnificent
print could be created...the unique art form
does require an extremely keen eye for
color..."I just love how you've really
combined art and technology", one of the
library-goers said to Kira, amazed...could
yield such photos. She elaborated that
Kira' s work is the precise reason that art
has been added to STEM, the abbreviation
for science, technology, engineering and
math...(Kira) will continue to spread her
brilliant work with nearby libraries in the
New Year."
DOVER HOMETOWN WEEKLY
December 2017
"Winter in New England can often be a
dreary season...which is precisely why local
artist and photographer Kira Seamon
displays her "Stained Glass Sky" prints at
the Walpole Public Library- to bring pops
of color to the winter months and to
remind us that there is still beauty in the
chilliest season...In the library's
Community Room, visitors were stunned
by the beautifully bright and intricately
patterned prints that hung on the walls...
However Kira's eye for photography found
that winter kaleidoscope photos yielded
gorgeous results, as proved by her snow
and ice collection, which is on display in
the library's lobby... the photographer's
endeavor proved to be dangerous but
thoroughly worthwhile...It's nearly
impossible for library-goers to pass by the
prints, which will be on display throughout
the month of January, without stopping to
admire the wondrous geometric shapes
and spread of colors..."

- THROUGH TO MY ANIMAL PHOTOGRAPHY
THROUGH TO MY REFLECTIONS
THROUGH TO MY SHADOWS
AND THROUGH TO MY EXPERIMENTAL, INNOVATIVE PHOTOGRAPHY
I have a love of all subjects of photography and a particular interest in composition, reflections, shadows, color and the play of light. I have the endless patience to achieve the perfect shot.
I can wait and watch a swan groom its feathers for hours, knowing that at the end of the grooming session, it will spread its wings for one glorious second and being ready to capture that.
I can wait for hours for the wind to die down and the sun comes back out to allow my fall foliage shots the best possible non windy/sunny conditions.
If I can't get the conditions on the first try, I'll return to the same tree the next day and the next, ad infinitum, until I get the perfect shot (or until the leaves fall off the tree!)
If life hands me lemons, I make lemonade and take the perfect shot during thunderstorms, ice storms, etc. If there is a thunderstorm raging on the top of Machu Picchu, then I'll start a Peruvian dramatic cloud series. If there's an ice storm, I'll take kaleidoscope photos of the delicate and exquisite patterns ice makes.
As a former National Dance Champion and Two-Time Regional Dance Champion, and a ballerina with a forty year dance career, I bring to my visual art the rigor, passion, patience, discipline and endless enthusiasm that fueled me in my performing art.
For both my traditional and experimental photography, I will get the perfect shot because I go the extra mile (s) for it.
All the work pays off because, as with my dance career, I live for sharing my art with the world.
